💥 What Is Shotgun Fungus?
Shotgun fungus (also called artillery fungus) is a type of outdoor mold that ejects tiny black spores from mulch beds. These spores stick aggressively to vehicle paint and trim — especially lighter-colored vehicles.
Once cured in the sun, they bond tightly to the clear coat and can be extremely difficult to remove safely.
In many cases:
• Chemical cleaners do not remove them
• They may require careful mechanical removal
• Severe cases can risk clear coat damage
Because removal is time-intensive and unpredictable, additional labor charges may apply when present.
